Civil Engineering is one of the highly critical engineering domains where a perfectly built structure can facilitate people with much comfort but a minor mistake made by an engineer can take away hundreds of lives in seconds. So, deep knowledge and perfect understanding of the concepts and requirements of civil engineering is highly desirable. Civil engineering is the discipline that applies the principles of engineering, physics and material science for the design, analysis, construction and maintenance of civil structures.

The Civil Department of Atmiya Institute of Technology & Science for Diploma studies is one of the pioneering departments, since the commencement of the college in 2004. Over the years, the department has progressed at a rapid pace with the development in both the spheres of infrastructure facilities and faculty members. The department has highly qualified faculty members engaged in teaching with the aim of achieving excellence in various fields. The faculty members are specialized in different disciplines of Civil Engineering.

  • The department also basic activities are carried out in the areas of Environmental Engg., Urban Planning, Water Resources Engg., Transportation Engg. The department provides consultancy services and also undertakes the work of Environmental Auditing for the industries.
  • The department has 6 well equipped laboratories attached to different divisions for conducting teaching, research and consultancy activities. The different facilities available in the laboratories are described in the respective pages.
  • The Students coming out from the Institute are well prepared with knowledge and technical information, refined with professional touch, are capable of undertaking the Civil Engineering jobs to meet the challenges of the 21st Century.
  • The department of Applied Mechanics is the backbone of Civil Engineering Programme. It is an independently functioning department, dedicated to the specialized areas of Structural Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering.
  • The basic courses of Engineering Mechanics and Mechanics of Solids are offered to the diploma students of all the branches of engineering. The subjects offered to the diploma students of Civil Engineering are, Structural Analysis, Structural Design, Geotechnical Engineering, electives in advanced course of analysis and design. The seminars and design projects in the relevant areas of applications to industry and research are the highlights of the department activity.
  • The faculty members of the department have also been shaping the development of the institute by shouldering responsibilities as Professor In-charge of various activities, and Institute level committees, to name a few.

Expert Lecture on Soft Skills Development 

Soft skills development is an essential part of a student’s education. In order to give its students a head start, the Institute of #Diploma #Studies at #AITS arranged for an expert lecture for the 2nd-semester students of all Diploma branches. The session focused on the how’s and why’s of the basic skills beside providing tips on facing Interviews, grooming and communication Do’s and Don’ts.

Sports plays 

Sports plays an important role in the overall development of a student, and promoting a sporting culture is one of the responsibilities of an educational institution. Atmiya Institute of Technology and Science for Diploma Studies (AITS-DS) conducted Sports Day on 9th March 2018, which saw an enthusiastic participation from students in diverse events such as Basketball,Volleyball, Kabaddi, Athletics, Carom, Chess, Table tennis, Badminton and Kho-kho.
