The department of Instrumentation & Control Engineering was established in the year 2002 and the first batch of students graduated in the year 2006. Pioneering in the field of Instrumentation & Control in Saurashtra region, this department has grown up a long way.

This department is unique not only in terms of infrastructure, but also in the sense of Industrial relations and support, vast use of various teaching aids, staff student interaction, rich library and e-library utilization, and laboratory facilities also.

Department of Instrumentation & Control Engineering is actively engaged in teaching and research. International and National journals and conference publications have been carried out by the staff. The primary focus of instrumentation engineering is the development and implementation of essential scientific laws for the purpose of measuring, monitoring and recording physical phenomena.

The scope of Instrumentation Engineering is vast, and is rapidly growing, in part due to the increased use of automatic control in manufacturing and process plant/s. To give nice practical approach to the field, department is currently having five State of the Art laboratories, as per industrial requirements, which are quite rich in terms of instruments. These labs comprise of NI LabVIEW products and a Universal Process Control mini-plant that helps to enhance the relevant technical practical understanding. The department is having good ICT facilities.

There is a huge collection of books, Magazines, Journals of various subjects in main as well as departmental library, which supports and encourages students and faculties. These facilities enable students to achieve top ranking results in GTU.

Department is having support of industries and medical hospitals in various aspects, related to syllabus designing, student and staff training and other technical support. Through technical expert lectures by industry persons, seminars and national conferences and Alumni meets the gap between academics and industry is being bridged.

Till date, more than 10 MoUs, Linkages and Collaboration have been signed with various industries. AITS IC has a very good record in placing students in renowned companies like Reliance Industries, NIRMA Chemicals, L&T etc.

Along with technical knowledge, our Institute includes teaching of human values through ‘Jeevan Vidhya’ as a part of curriculum. We believe that it helps the growth of students to be virtuous citizens in their life as this course focuses on moral character and perpetuation of human values in the youth through education.

The scope of education is to understand one’s purposefulness or one’s goal as an individual, as well as one’s goal as a society.

Mission

Ensuring effective teaching & learning process to provide in-depth knowledge of principles and its applications pertaining to Instrumentation & Control Engineering and interdisciplinary areas.

To undertake collaborative projects which offer opportunities for long-term interaction with academia and industry.

To inculcate value based, socially committed professionalism to the cause of overall development of students and society.

Vision

To be leading technical department of academic excellence in the field of Instrumentation & Control Engineering by imparting professional education endowed with human values to the younger generation so as to transform them to be technologically superior and ethically strong citizen to serve the society.

Values

We promote Jeevan-Vidhya culture through perpetuation of moral character human values in the youth through education. The efforts are directed towards the holistic and sustainable development of youth, society and mother earth through education.

  • Discipline: The environment of our Institution focuses on incorporating both personal and professional discipline in students.
  • Knowledge: Technical knowledge and human values both are imparted as a part of education for overall development of students.
  • Self-Awareness: Through continuous UHV activities, self-awareness is created among students and staff.
  • Communication skills: Expert faculties provide frequent training to students for enhancing their communication skills.
  • Team work: Many extra-curricular and co-curricular activities are organized in the AITS campus to instigate the sense of team work.
  • Career readiness: TIPO activities help students to upgrade and get ready for entering the professional world.
  •  Apply the technical knowledge to develop mathematical models of the industrial process and laboratory systems.
  •  Develop hardware and software tools for industrial automation systems to meet the specified needs of industry.
  •  Specify, design, build and test process and laboratory instrumentation systems with an understanding of its limitations.

The scope of education is to understand one’s purposefulness or one’s goal as an individual, as well as one’s goal as a society. Education should facilitate stakeholders to have the understanding, commitment, competence and the practice of living with definite human conduct and to participate in the development of a human society.

In the country, the need for this discipline also saw a rise with advent of big multi-nationals. Though traditional jobs in instrumentation engineering were available with big public sector undertakings in India like BHEL, GAIL and IOCL, etc., the economic growth in the country has also opened wide opportunities for Instrumentation Engineers in companies like L&T, Reliance, Siemens, TCS, General Electric, Texas Instruments, National Instruments, Bechtel, Fluor Daniel, etc.
