About Department of Mechanical Engineering
The Mechanical Engineering department was established in the year 2005 to provide quality education to the students in the area of Mechanical Engineering and to cater the needs of industry. Department has well developed infrastructure for diploma program in Mechanical Engineering. The department has excellent laboratory facilities and workshops, well qualified and experienced staff in all the interdisciplinary areas of mechanical engineering. We create a conducive environment for teaching – learning process and our faculty members always strive hard for academic excellence and overall personality development of students.
The Students along with basic courses like Engineering Graphics, Mechanical Drafting, Computer aided Drafting, Shop Skills, Manufacturing Processes, Fundamentals of Maintenance Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Theory of Machine, etc., are also taught advanced courses like Machine Design, Power Plant Engineering, Quality Engineering, Fluid Power control, Computer Aided Design & Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM). Industrial training is also an inbuilt feature of the programme.
The department is offering consultancy by using CAD/CAM software such as Pro/Engineer, MASTERCAM. Department also conducts training programme for industry person and academicians.

Session on Advance Modelling and Simulation Technique using Solidworks.
Students of #Diploma #Mechanical and #Diploma #Automobile Engineering participated in a session titled Advance Modelling and Simulation Technique using Solidworks. Students were taken through modules such as Mould Analysis, Mechanism Simulation and Engineering Analysis by experts from #AITS for #DiplomaStudies and #KhodiyarCAD.
Expert Lecture on Soft Skills Development
Soft skills development is an essential part of a student’s education. In order to give its students a head start, the Institute of #Diploma #Studies at #AITS arranged for an expert lecture for the 2nd-semester students of all Diploma branches. The session focused on the how’s and why’s of the basic skills beside providing tips on facing Interviews, grooming and communication Do’s and Don’ts.
Sports plays
Sports plays an important role in the overall development of a student, and promoting a sporting culture is one of the responsibilities of an educational institution. Atmiya Institute of Technology and Science for Diploma Studies (AITS-DS) conducted Sports Day on 9th March 2018, which saw an enthusiastic participation from students in diverse events such as Basketball,Volleyball, Kabaddi, Athletics, Carom, Chess, Table tennis, Badminton and Kho-kho.
Expert Lecture
The Department of Diploma Mechanical Engineering conducted an Expert Lecture for its 4th Semester students on the subject of Thermal Engineering – I on 15th January 2018. The session was conducted by Mr. Tushar Jotangiya, Asst. Manager in the Power Plant at Gujarat Heavy Chemicals Ltd., Sutrapada. With his cumulative experience of more than 5 years, the speaker explained the working, the processes and the challenges of Thermal Power Plants. The lecture was appreciated by students and faculty alike.
