Dr. P. Santhanakrishnan has become the first Provost of the Atmiya University on July 2018. He graduated from Annamalai University, India and pursed Ph.D at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, India.
A microbiologist, researcher and administrator, Dr Santhanakrishnan has brought several innovative practices in sustainable agriculture and established a few technology oriented courses and research stations.
Before coming to Atmiya, Professor Santhanakrishnan was Dean for Research in PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, Tamil Nadu. Prior to that he was the acting Vice Chancellor, Registrar and Controller of Examination at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University where he enjoyed a successful career spanning almost 43 years.
He worked in different processes from state Agricultural University, deemed university and college of excellence and practiced in broad areas of Agriculture, Horticulture, Food science, Agricultural Engineering, Management, and Environmental Science. He developed extensive network with academic and industrial partners in Canada, United Kingdom, Middle East, South Korea, Singapore, and New Zealand. He also has interests in social relevant and community engagement projects across Agriculture, Liberal Arts and-Engineering domains and has been reported in over 72 scientific publications and has guided many doctoral level students.
